BIO: Hello! You can call me Yuya. I'm from Sendai, Japan. This is my second year in Daybreak Academy. I'm a Tamer, and Odd-Eyes is my familiar. He's the big red dragon that hangs out in the courtyards. He's friendly but he tries to steal food sometimes. I speak Japanese and English but not very good French. I'm also in the theater club. I'm in Lumiere 203. Let's be friends!

[ It's really helpful that Yuya leaves his room number, because Kano won't have to go looking for him; he can just hop downstairs and knock on the door.

...It sounds like something much harder than knuckles, though. It's stone. It's a stone pot in his hands that he's banging against the door. ]

Yuyaaaaa~ Are you home?

[Yuya pauses from where he's flopped on the bed, scrolling through his phone. That's a really heavy sound, so he rolls over to fall out of the bed to his feet and creeps closer. That's when he hears Kano's voice.]

Ah--coming! [He bounds across the room and pulls the door wide open.] You're doing okaaais that a pot?

[ He needs to find a way out of here. That thing is on the other side of his bedroom door, having borrowed his mothers body and voice and getting angrier and angrier every passing second he refuses to open the door to it- and it's hard, because the only other exit to his room is the window, the third floor not being much better than the rooftop only ten feet higher, and he's not sure he can survive it this time.

Still. He has his feet up at the edge of the windowsill, half his body out as he holds onto the frame and looks around outside- ]

Odd-Eyes!! Hey, Odd-Eyes!!!

[ Please be around, the familiar is a hell of a lot better than whatever that monster is. ]

[Outside, big red and scaly definitely sticks out on the snowy ground. Well, he does when it's grassy too but a lot more during the winter. He's curled up in his usual nap spot on the ground that lines up under Yuya's and Kano's room. It takes a bit of screaming before Odd-Eyes slowly lifts his head to look up at Kano, with a faint rumble that is probably asking what the noisy boy wants. He's not terribly urgent about whatever's happening.

Yuya's quicker to his feet. His room being right below Kano's makes the banging particularly audible. He tries to ignore it at first, but... there's a point where he can't ignore the distraction. While Kano is opening the window, dangling himself out, Yuya's bouncing up the stairs two at a time to the next floor and to room 303 with a weary expression.]

Is this about the music ban...? Hey, what's going--on?

[Yuya stops, blinking rapidly at the figure pounding on the door he was just about to pound on. She's... not with the school, is she?]

[It wouldn't be entireltly accurate to say Gongenzaka was strictly consumed by bloodlust, during the evenings of the full moon. Ravenous, perhaps- something that a lot of meat helped with. And antsy- itching to fight, to snap...in the day he was even more irritable over small matters, but as with always, he managed it well. Not a single outburst- not in the slightest.

The weekend is over now however. Gongenzaka wakes, trudges back to his own dorms, and with a groan goes back to sleep. And a while after that, wakes again. Suffice to say...he was excused from classes, today. Recovery time they said.

He still intends to do something today though. So he showers up, gets his hair in order...and with a yawn, prepares to head out.

He doesn't expect to see anyone when he opens his door.

Maybe he should, by now.]

[Yuya's waiting outside, as he has been since he tailed Gongenzaka upon realizing he'd left the Mythril Cage. He should, technically, be heading to classes soon himself but... he can afford to miss one here and there.

He leans off the door when Gongenzak exits yawning, and holds out a water bottle for him.] Hey. Long night?

[01/26] - The Cat

[Toki is waiting in the hallway for Yuya to return from wherever. Probably having breakfast with Gongenzaka or something. He still hasn't found his keys, or even looked, and the door was locked.]

[Breakfast with Gon is probably a fair guess. Since it's saturday he's dressed out of uniform, goggles bouncing against his collar as he hops up the stairs and swings down the hall to his room.

He raises his hand in greeting as he sees Toki, assuming he's leaving.] Hey!

[There's a box outside Lumière 203. It's covered with green and blue striped wrapping paper and has a string bow tied around it. The card is addressed to Yuya and reads - You were right - . When he opens it, he will find a carved wooden dragon. Its claws are resting atop a large crystal ball. It has no wings.]

[Kind of weird, but... he'll try and narrow down who it's from later. For now, that statue is going on his desk where he can see and appreciate it.]

2/15 mid-morning

[Aaah... she didn't tell Yuya that she left too early. She's embarrassed -- deeper, more than that, really -- that she left early. She should have stayed. She shouldn't have told herself she would be okay.

She wasn't.

But... she can't tell him that, so her text is simpler. She doesn't want to worry him.]

How'd the rest of the dance go, Yuya?

[Yuya noticed she left early, though his floating from person to person had slowed down after the battle. But Kano was gone too, so he didn't ask. And he had other things on his mind the night before.

Nana's text is a welcome distraction from that, so he fires back quickly.]

2/16, late late evening

[ Almost the entirety of the 15th after Kano got back home was spent asleep, and much of the 16th as well, but eventually he's got to move on with his life, and so he's outside— just outside the dorms, visible milling around in the darkness from either of his or Yuya's stacked bedroom windows- when he shoots Yuya a text. ]

Are you okay?
Are you ready?

[ He could've probably picked Yuya up on his way downstairs, but... nah. Nah. He's not ready to face Toki yet, even though he should probably be here for this. ]

I'm ready to go now.

[If Kano's staring into the window from down below, he'll probably catch Yuya passing by the window while he gathers his things, turning his head to talk to either Toki or the catch--there's a fair chance either way.]

How do I explain to Toki, that something is his choice only...without worrying him...

[ EXAMS ARE DONE.......... oh my god, Kano doesn't want to ever touch a pen ever again, or even look at a sheet of paper. He put things down on the paper, he filled in every blank regardless of if they're completely accurate, he'll get his partial credit and scrape by a passing grade like he always has, that at least he's confident in, but it still takes so much effort. A man died a week ago. He was led to believe his adoptive sibling was going to kill herself. He'd spent an entire Sunday with Nana and now he wants to sleep for 8572374083 years straight. The exam week was brutal and unforgiving. ]

Yuya... We're done...

[ He sets both hands down on either of Yuya's shoulders and lets his knees go lax. ]

Call Odd-Eyes... I don't think I can make it back...

[It's been probably the worst midterms in Yuya's recent memory. He lets out a weary breath as well, but when Kano grabs on and starts to falter Yuya snaps to attention.]

He's not allowed in this building. Or the dorm. [Not anymore. Yuya at least tries to brace Kano to stay standing.]

... I can give you a piggyback ride?

March 12th

[A package arrived in the morning which Toki is just now getting around to opening several hours later. Jail's note is read through several times, because her handwriting is hard to discern. It turns out to be pretty standard common sense information, which he may or may not have actually thought of himself. Inside is the orichalcum bracelet he commissioned; the shine dulled down to something much easier on the eyes. He isn't putting it on right away though; he has some things to consider first.]

Yuya~! Do you want to help me with something~!?

[He doesn't wait for an answer and holds out the bracelet for Yuya to inspect.]

I want to see if orichalcum can block my powers and it's going to be a fun experiment~!

[Yuya looks up, leaning over to inspect the bracelet--without touching it.] Why do you want to block your powers?

[Yuya cracks up laughong and is immediately trying to video call Nana, knowing Kano's probably can't. Pick up, pick up.]

[ It's... a little bit unfair, Shuuya had thought, staring out the window from 303 and seeing people walk around who look so much like siblings. He'd never really cared much for an older brother or sister, and thinks he'd probably prefer being an only child than to have a sibling to compete for his mothers affections (...or "affections"...) with, but at the same time, it's him in this room all alone and it hurts a little too that he doesn't have anybody left. But Yuya never had anybody like that, a little brother or sister he's seen tagging around him. And he said that Shuuya can come over whenever he wants, right? Just to play with the cat, or to sit quietly in the corner, or whatever he wants to do. He makes sure it's a weekend, where he wouldn't be getting in the way of actual school things, and goes downstairs to knock at Yuya's door. ] Nii-chan? [ The towel is clutched in his hands, washed and dried and— folded neatly, originally, but it's being anxiously wrung in his hands again now. He's here to return this... ]

[It doesn't take long for Yuya to answer the door, pulling it wide open to welcome Shuuya in. Even if he wasn't planning to actually come in.]

Hey, Shuuya. Doing better? How's your wound?

04/19; 1:00am-ish / idk

[It's late when Toki comes back to the dorm room. The door's unlocked, so he sneaks in as quietly as he can, hoping Yuya's already gone to sleep. He'd spent the last several hours in Rex's van in the parking lot. There's dried blood on his shirt, around the collar mostly, but some streaks down the front and on the cuff of the left sleeve. It's crusted under his fingernails and around the cuticles of his left hand. The right has a few new bite marks amidst the scars from early ones. His left eye appears more of a lighter red, somewhat hazed over like a cataract. The white of his eye is bloodshot and there's fading purple and green bruises around the socket. It should be fine by morning. Magic. No one has to know. The fang punctures on his neck have healed over already, and no one will know about that either.]

[Yuya's half hanging off the bed, staring blearily ahead and too much running through his head to sleep. He doesn't even want to look at what time it is, and doesn't assume it's so late when Toki comes in.]

Hey... [Is the bleary response before he realizes oh, it's Toki, and then he pushes himself up on his arm.] Toki! Where have you been? You were gone for days!

[Not too many days, but enough days to be noticeable and without any warning and Yuya's only just now getting to confront it among everything else.]

[ Meow, meow, hello. There's a scratching sound at the door, and if Yuya or Toki open it, it'll be to Nekano sitting back and giving them a greeting meow. There's a roll of paper tucked into the collar around the cat's neck, which he insistently rubs against whoever's leg trying to dislodge it.

[Kuroko is the first one to respond to Kano's presence once Yuya opens the door, creeping closer with wide eyes and whiskers alert.

Yuya looks around, then down.] A cat...? Hi there.

Late May (idk)

[Toki has something very important to discuss, and after much consideration, he has decided Yuya is the one to hear it. He's come to the realization he really doesn't have many friends at all to choose from, and though Yuya's the youngest and probably least experienced in these things, he's still maybe the best for this somehow.

Returning to the dorm room one afternoon, Toki finds it locked. He takes out his phone and sets up an alarm to tell him every single day to get a key, until he finally does it. Today, he'll just wait in the hallway until Yuya gets back from wherever.]

[Yuya powers up the stairs, coming to a stop when he sees Toki before approaching the door.]

Hey, waiting for someone?

[Early in the evening, Toki finally returns to the room. He doesn't know if Yuya's there or not, and hadn't been able to check because he'd left his phone in the room all day.

He unlocks the door quietly and slips inside. His clothes are completely dry now, but the smell of chlorine lingers. He's carrying his shoes, which are kind of gross and damp still.]

[Once Toki was brought to the infirmary, Yuya didn't linger long before he headed back to their room. He showered and changed out of his own gross chlorine-soaked clothes, and has since then been curled up in his chair with Kuroko wrapped up in his arms, petting her.]

Hey. [It comes out weakly as Toki closes the door.]

JULY 20 - YUUYA'S RETURN

[There was never a good Time.

After Prom, Gongenzaka knew he'd 'messed up'. Maybe he shouldn't have taken Nana's advice. Maybe he should have said something else. But Yuuya was upset, and he could tell, and he messed up. But then the battle against the Herald was upon them mere days later, before he could even think more upon how.

And following the Herald, it had been a simple matter of just being relieved to see the other alive.

And from there he'd gone home. Gone home and explained, trained, talked about everything they'd witnessed as Nightfall was held back but not entirely, as the world threw itself into disaster and made it worse.

...And since 'something' was still bothering him, as his mother so skillfully noticed, he talked about 'something' else as well.

And perhaps he should have gone to his parents first, when it came to the matter.

But the time was never right. When he went back to Daybreak it was in time for Nana's birthday and what if the mood soured, what if he ruined that? And after the birthday it felt too immediate, too much of a mood-crusher. And then orbs of memories floated about, and he saw that, and questioned, because how could he talk about 'this' while also talking about that and...

And then Yuuya was gone.

By the 20th of July Gongenzaka knows what he wants to say. What he has to say, if he isn't going to make things worse for Yuuya. He needs time- and Yuuya shouldn't be stuck waiting, especially not if he already has been waiting. He doesn't know when it'll be right to say it but by the 20th of July he at least knows the words.

And when he catches a whiff of Yuuya's scent on the air, he still doesn't know when the right time to say them is, but he at least knows that the one who's been missing for 5 days without reason is back and alive and There, Out There so Gongenzaka charges toward the smell without pause.

He'll realize later just how...rank the scent is and was, but for now at least Yuuya is hopefully prepared to be half-tackled by a very distressed werebear.]

[Yuya slinks back without any warning or fanfare, Odd Eyes by his side. He can't keep running away forever, and he still doesn't feel totally prepared to face... anything. But he has enough missed calls and ignored text messages on his phone to decide, finally, to return to campus even if he isn't ready.

He looks up dully at Gongenzaka and doesn't get a lot of reaction before he's suddenly getting crushed in an embrace.] Mmph--!

[Please, let him breathe.]

August 12th-ish (after the ghost plot is over)

[They haven't been in the same place too often over the summer vacation, but Toki has something he's been wanting to discuss with Yuya. A day when they're in the room at the same time, he finally starts the conversation.]

Yuya? Can I talk to you about something?

Hm? [Yuya tilts his head over the egde of his bed, where he's cuddling Kuroko and occupying her with videos of birds on his phone.]

Sure. What's up?

[Just before the school year starts- because that's always the best time, right?- Yuuya's getting an email.]

Hello Yuuya?

I would like to speak to you about something, but I am unsure if you yourself are on the campus at the moment; you were not at your dorm when I knocked.

I could meet you there, if that has changed?

[One afternoon, Marcel drops Toki off in the second floor hallway. He struggles a bit with opening the door, trying to balance five cardboard boxes, three relatively large, while turning the knob. As he finally gets inside, the small box on top falls to the floor and he kicks it to the side out of his way.]

Yuya! Are you here? I got things~!

Pre bbq pre trauma pre everything

[Yuya at least gets up to open the door when he sees Toki struggling to get in.] Whoa! What's all this?

Oct. 1st

[Toki had the left dorm early in the morning to attend his second evaluation. He's gone a little longer than the last time, but when he returns, he's by himself. He unlocks the door and enters the room quietly. It's discordant for him to be excited while it's only been a week since the Hunt.

He has the harness contraption with him, which he immediately flings towards the closet. It's to be kept as a reminder, but he's not inclined to look at it for a while. He sets his bag on desk, and though his tone isn't overtly cheerful, there's a underlying vibration of joy and he can't contain the happiness in his expression.]

Yuya, I did it. I'm free.

[Yuya's first day out of hiding, apologizing to staff, and mourning Odd-Eyes' absence on campus goes about as well as expected. Which isn't well at all, and leads Yuya to skipping his last two classes to hide out in his room under his desk. Toki's one of those he's tried not to run into, but he's back faster than expected.

He jerks up when he hears his name called, slamming his head against the bottom of his desk and he lets out a yelp of pain.]
