STATUS: Student Grade 9
ACCOLADES: (Here is a list of leading roles Yuya's has in school theater performances over the past two years, plus a glowing review of his familiar Odd-Eyes)
BIO: Hello! You can call me Yuya. I'm from Sendai, Japan. This is my second year in Daybreak Academy. I'm a Tamer, and Odd-Eyes is my familiar. He's the big red dragon that hangs out in the courtyards. He's friendly but he tries to steal food sometimes. I speak Japanese and English but not very good French. I'm also in the theater club. I'm in Lumiere 203. Let's be friends!

Until they're crispy which is like, five or ten minutes of boiling? High heat means the water boils faster though, right...
[His face scrunches to try and remember the recipe.] And then you simmer them in soy sauce for... I think the same amount of time? Or twice as long.
no subject
So... worst case scenario, we need half an hour. It'd be pretty tough getting everybody out of the kitchen for that long... but all we need is a pot of water? A hot plate would work, right?
no subject
[He grins, adjusting the pot in his arms so he can squeeze out of his room.] And find someplace to cook them, I guess. Maybe outside?
no subject
[ BC I'M A DUMBASS WHO FORGOT WHY THEY WANTED A POT IN THE FIRST PLACE........ ]
We're cooking outside instead of the kitchen? Oh- we were going to let your familiar provide in the fire, weren't we? That's right! I said I wanted to see 'em!!
[ The one who he still thinks is a horse!!! ]
no subject
[Because they absolutely will not want two teens cooking gross squished crickets with their stuff. Yuya closes his door, setting the pot down long enough to lock it.] There'a a gazebo at the east side of the quad that'd be perfect. It's easier for Odd-Eyes to get around, too.
We just need the other ingredients. [Time for petty theft part two.]
no subject
[ He starts forward, leaving Yuya to carry the pot. Sorry. It took some effort to get over here, and Ekkehardt wasn't kidding when he said Kano's arm would still be sore. ]
Soy sauce, water... Ah, well, you know the ingredients better than I do, so I'll leave you to it! I'll meet you at the gazebo!
no subject
He pauses, looking at Kano with brief surprise.] Oh... sure! I'll try and be quick.
[It'll probably take a bit because he doesn't have enough illusions or trust by the staff to pull off a heist easily... but they need that soy sauce. He can probably just fill the pot from the bathroom.] Can you wash the crickets, then?
no subject
...Yep, leave it to me~! I'll see you in a bit!!
[ That'll give Kano time to find that gazebo, set the crickets down somewhere. ...sprinkle a little bit of water on it to make it look like he washed and dry it, sorry Yuya, he can't do it properly, he really doesn't want to touch dead decaying bugs. ]
no subject
[And with that, he trots off--probably a bit more slowly because of the pot. The gazebo, at least, isn't terribly hidden.
Yuya's much more careful returning with the full pot, and soy sauce and salt tucked under his arm as he ascends the steps.] I'm here! You weren't waiting too long, right?
no subject
[ He can pretend to be helpful, at least, hopping to his feet when Yuya approaches and reaching out to help him power the pot to the ground- the last two feet to the ground... With his illusion up, he makes his sleeves look damp from washing, rolled up to his elbows and dripping water that immediately disappears when it hits the ground. Let's not focus on that, though- ]
Looks like everything's here~! And your familiar is around too?
no subject
... Yeah, he's definitely around here. [He straightens up and moves to the railing of the gazebo, one hand on it as he puts his other hand to his mouth and releases a long whistle. There's something abnormal about the way that it carries through the air, like it's further and louder than he should be able to do.
There's a beat of silence, then the quiet rustling of the grass and trees going louder, and then Odd-Eyes is running in from the distance with a fast and heavy pace. He comes right up to the gazebo, letting out a hot breath as he sticks his face close.] Odd-Eyes! I need your help with something, okay?
no subject
His first thought was a pegasus, the imagery of a horse still in his mind, but he's DEADASS WRONG. The last time he saw Odd-Eyes, it looked like he was about to snap him clean in half, so Kano ducks behind the pot as if he can shield him. ]
Whoa, whoa, whoa, that's it!? This is Odd-Eyes?! Fire-breathing Odd-Eyes??!
[ WHO ALMOST HAD KANO IN HIS MOUTH
BREATHING FIRE ]
no subject
Yeah, this is my familiar! [He strokes the side of Odd-Eyes' neck before turning back to Kano. His smile freezes for a moment.] Eh, what's wrong?
no subject
[ He's going to say right. here.
Yuya and Odd-Eyes and go cook the crickets on their own, he'll supervise from the very edge of the gazebo. ]
no subject
You know, he won't hurt you. Despite how he looks, he's actually really gentle.
[Otherwise Yuya would be hella dead.]
no subject
[ He doesn't move at all from where he's hiding, but projects the image of himself to step forward, back straight and smile confident- and sometimes that's all he needs to do to convince people, showing them what they want to see, but he also hasn't had much experience with familiars in general, let alone a dragon. ]
Let's, uh. Get this thing cooking, yeah? We ran around doing so much work! I'm a little hungry after all of that~
no subject
Okay. I need your help heating the pot up, Odd-Eyes.
[He turns back to his familiar, who shifts up as if he's taken aback by the suggestion and lets out a higher pitched growl between closed lips. Yuya just nudges him.] Please, I'll let you have some for helping too.
[Because he seems to... understand what any of that grumbling is. But Odd-Eyes relents, moving around to the from of the gazebo and slowly laying down with his snout inches from the pot before he blows a very small flame to it. It's not the move even pot boiling, but it's what they got.
The dragon side-eyes Yuya with a suffering look while Yuya scoots beside Illusionary Kano, pressing his hands together.] Thank you!
[He turns to Kano.] Have you had inago before?
no subject
Nope, this'll be my first time! We don't have a lot of crickets, just a sock or two of them, so I'll let Odd-Eyes have my share~ It's an offering to the great Odd-Eyes! [ please don't eat me!!! essentially ]
no subject
Oh, yeah, where are the crickets? [Yuya didn't really look before he called Odd-Eyes, so he glances around to get a better look at them.]
