YUYA SAKAKI UN: FUNDIRECTION

BIO: Hello! You can call me Yuya. I'm from Sendai, Japan. This is my second year in Daybreak Academy. I'm a Tamer, and Odd-Eyes is my familiar. He's the big red dragon that hangs out in the courtyards. He's friendly but he tries to steal food sometimes. I speak Japanese and English but not very good French. I'm also in the theater club. I'm in Lumiere 203. Let's be friends!

[Yuya gives Kano a mock salute and waves him off before heading downstairs. His task is probably just shorter, so he'll be waiting with a pot of coffee and a container of cream and sugar each, in case Kano wants those. And mugs, all collected onto a tray.]

[ An hour is the estimate that Kano gives, but he eventually gets back to the dorm, carrying what looks like a large potted cactus in his hands- that jingles with glass clanging against one another when he lifts it triumphantly and gives it a shake when he sees Yuya. It's the alcohol, though currently disguised, because obviously nobody will question Kano walking around with a cactus. ]

Alright, here we are~ It's a bit of a trek, so are you alright balancing that by yourself? We're going back up~

[Is it telling that people would think less of Kano carrying a cactus than alcohol that he's technically legal for in France.]

Mm, I've got it! [Yuya balances the tray in his hands before starting to walk carefully.] I'll follow your lead!

[ lmfao yes. but also, alcohol's crazy expensive, probably, and there is no way Kano paid real money for all these bottles. He hugs the bag of bottles to his chest, though, before bounding up the stairs to the second floor. The third. Fourth. The roof. It's the rooftop.

BUT DON'T WORRY, THERE'S A RAILING NOW, IT'LL BE FINE. ]

[Yuya looks over his shoulder as they ascend to the rooftop. Just to make sure nobody's noticing them. He braces himself against the cold and looks around.] Up here?

Yep, up here~ Over here actually~

[ He sets his cactus onto the ground and wanders over towards one of the steam vents, crouching down in front of it and fiddles with something on the ground. And- like the cactus turning into a shopping bag full of various fruity spirits, a little storage shed pops into existence, as if an invisible veil had been cast over it and then lifted. ]

Ta-da~! Come on, let's get out of the cold~

[ He grabs his bottles and holds the door open for Yuya to get inside. ]

Whoa! [Yuya grins, barely stopping himself from rushing over when he's carrying coffee.

Instead he makes the slow walk, ducking in before finding a spot he can set the tray down.] This is really cool. You made it?

[ Kano laughs, but it's tinged with pride, self-assured because this was the one place he made for himself and it's been just his for so long. ]

That's right~ A place to hang out~ Cool, huh?

[ Before this, he didn't have anybody to hang out with. But if Yuya looks around, it's a bit strange: there's nothing here. Yuya can set the tray down literally anywhere, because wall to wall it's empty— but there's so many signs of things having been here, stains on the floor and nails left bent in the walls, dust in straight edges giving away where boxes must have been pushed up against the walls and stacked. This place used to be full, but it's empty, now.

Kano, for his part, says nothing about this, setting the bottles right on the center of the floor and then pulling a candlestick out of his pocket, along with a lighter to light the candle. ]

It's great! [Yuya looks around, squinting his eyes in the dark when he sets the tray down. He wonders about what it used to hold--it was a storage closet for the school, wasn't it?]

You could make it a real clubhouse, with chairs and snacks. I wonder if there's a wall socket...

[He sits down, looking to Kano as he starts pouring one of the mugs with coffee.] Candlelight too?

It's gotta be candlelight 'cause there's no electricity~ Unfortunately, I don't know enough about wires to divert some up here!

[ So, it's just a hidden storage shed, walls of wood and not the best place to leave a burning candle, but Kano will supervise and make sure they don't all burn to death. ]

Cheers, Yuya~! [ He picks up one of the coffee mugs ] To no more studying until the end of term!!

[Yuya dumps a lot of sugar and cream into his coffee, and then brings it up to clink with Kano's.] Kanpai~! To surviving our midterms!

[ Kano takes his coffee straight black, because he doesn't appreciate food. ]

To a weekend of ignorance before we get our grades back!!

Yes! [Yuya takes a sip--it's not so hot after sitting out so long, but Yuya still drinks it leisurely.] How long have you had this place?

Hm~ Two years, about?

[ It took him a while to get the place set up, hidden, filled floor to ceiling over the rest of the time he's been here; it's only recently that he'd emptied the place, so that he almost leans back against a cardboard box that is no longer there, and resorts to drawing his knees up instead and balancing the coffee mug on top of one of them. He does not drink from the coffee. ]

But it's being repurposed, now~ It's a "clubhouse," so it's to be shared by a "club." What do you think?

[Yuya scoots over, carefully around the candle to start looking at the alcohol Kano brought and trying to read the labels.]

A club for something like that quiz from before? I think it's a good place for it. Especially since we're banned from the roof, nobody will think to snoop around up here!

[As if Yuya was even remotely hesitant about getting on the roof after this supposed ban. Look, it's fenced in now it's fine.]

[ I know nothing about alcohol so they're all like... fruity liquors, things like blood orange, pink lemonade, strawberry, rhubarb?? gin or vodka or whatever, enough sugar to mask the alcohol and get you smashed before you know it.

Anyways, he laughs and grabs one at random and pours a cup. Slides it over Yuya's way. ]

All I learned from that quiz was that most everybody likes cats~! A bit disappointing~ But I picked up some good things here and there anyways~ How 'bout this question? What do you think about joining?

[Did Kano know what he was doing getting straight hard alcohol? Yuya certainly doesn't, looking through the flavors with curiosity.

Kano pours him one first, though, and he takes the cup while putting his mug aside and sniffs it before taking a sip. This time he's more prepared, but it's so strong.]

Mm--you'd let me join?!

[Yuya doesn't even know what this club is about.]

[ He has no idea what he's doing and has never had alcohol in his life. Yuya said pink drinks and so Kano grabbed pink drinks with nothing to dilute them with unless they really want to go the coffee-alcohol route. ]

Yeah, do you want to?

[ He also raises his coffee cup for a toast- like they're not done toasting, it just follows that you're supposed to take a drink after you clink glasses. ]

Yeah! [Yuya bumps his drink enthusiastically to Kano's before taking another sip. And then a longer one, eyeing the next flavor he wants to try. This burns more than the wine diff, but maybe a different one will be easier.]

I've only been in the drama club, what do we do?

[ Kano brings his cup up to his lips too, but to smell the coffee and then lower it back onto his knees again, holding onto it with both hands to warm his palms. ]

Hm~ In terms of activities, there's nothing officially scheduled, but on a case-by-case basis there may be group activities everybody is encouraged to participate in. Solving mysteries, scouting areas, those sorts of things~

[ Those sorts of... very purposely vague things... But it's a club from his childhood, with stems in make-believe and now that they're older, it feels more and more on him to create scenarios for them to play, if he wants to keep the group alive. He doesn't entirely mind it, and his illusions are good for orchestrating things too. ]

[Yuya nods, putting a finger to his lips.] And I don't say a word about it, right? No one else knows about the club?

[He remembers it being a secret, anyway, and there's a look of excitement as he says it. It's exciting, belonging to a group of--friends? Like this.]

That's how it is~ You catch on quickly!

[ It's essentially a group of friends! Except half of them don't know the other half because Kano's never actually told anybody else who the other members are, they're basically all in the dark about who else is there besides Kano as the common factor. This is why he's not the leader. ]

You're somebody I can count on, and that's one of the most important things~ But I need a verbal okay from you! An official "I'll join!" I won't let you refuse~

[Yuya laughs, raising his glass in the air.] I'll join! Definitely!

[The lack of choice from Kano is a joke, he thinks... but he's excited either way, grinning as he finishes off the cup of liquor and grabs for a different bottle to pour it to a fourth. This one's next.] Who else is part of it? Maybe we can all come together up here...

[ Yuya really can hold his liquor, can't he? Kano takes his first sip of coffee; maybe Yuya won't remember any of this by the end of the day anyways. ]

First off, we have miss Minako Arisato, the leader, our Danchou~! Her word is law and you must obey without question~

Dan member number two is Ellie— she's away for a bit, so I call dibs on her share of the spoils of war until she gets back.

Yours truly is number three, and Orihime is our recently joined fourth! As our newest recruit, you take on the number of five.

[Yuya thinks he's fine, too, giving that pour a taste before sucking it down and moving to the next. But he's going through them quickly, and his digestive system is only just catching up.

If his fingers start to tingle, he's pretty sure that's fine.] Great, I like number five! And I like all of them too, and I like you. I'll definitely obey Minako's Danchou law!

[He's getting chatty, though. Yuya tries out some citrus one next, making a face at the strength of it (too much alcohol, not enough citrus) before trying the next.] Haha, the numbering is kind if like a gang, isn't it? Like my mom.
