BIO: Hello! You can call me Yuya. I'm from Sendai, Japan. This is my second year in Daybreak Academy. I'm a Tamer, and Odd-Eyes is my familiar. He's the big red dragon that hangs out in the courtyards. He's friendly but he tries to steal food sometimes. I speak Japanese and English but not very good French. I'm also in the theater club. I'm in Lumiere 203. Let's be friends!

[Toki's happy to follow the cat too. Maybe it will lead them to the second piece of the map. He grabs his phone to take a picture of the paper just in case it gets lost somewhere along the way. He hands the original to Yuya in the hallway. It's safer with him.]

[ SO THIS IS HOW WE'RE DOING IT..... Time to flee down the hall and up the stairs and if he's lucky, Mav and Akechi haven't left yet and they could put their collective two braincells together and solve this together. ]

[In their defense, they have significantly less context in regards to the Weirdly Smart Black Cat and Kano having weird ciphers to this point.

But also they're just fucking stupid.] Ah--wait!

[Yuya barely grabs the paper before he runs after Nekano fast enough to keep him in sight.]

[Toki has seen one picture of Nekano before; one that Mav sent, but he has completely forgotten it. He's had an encounter with Nekano in New York, but also forgot most of that and certainly would never put it together that "weird map cat" and "new york elevator cat" are one in the same. He follows the cat and Yuya up to the third floor.]

[ Honestly, them being fucking stupid is a blessing sometimes, especially with Toki not being able to tell one cat apart from another. Where to go from here... It doesn't matter, right? He puts on a burst of speed and immediately after turning the corner into the hallway—- he's gone. No cat. Bye. ]

[Yuya hops up, up--and then skis to a halt on the third floot when the cat is just gone.

[Now that Akechi's had time to read up on codes and Mav's had time to be a little less depressed, and it's time to go out and climb on shit because ~romance~

here come The Other Boys, Mav complaining as he automatically turns to lock the door behind him.]

I mean, if you're gonna fucking use a code, you should fucking give some kinda fucking indication of which goddamn code it is unless you're just some dick that doesn't give a shit if someone solves it or not. You brought the paper, right?

Yes, I have it.

[He reaches into a pocket and pulls out the paper.]

We're just lucky I've had reason to be curious about America, I never would have guessed the code otherwise.

Where did it go!?

[There's no sign of the cat once they get into the hallway, but Maverick and Akechi are leaving, so maybe the cat's in there.]

Maverick~! Hello~! Uhh.. I forgot you name, Princess~! Do you have a cat!?

[Toki waves to them absently. The mention of codes goes unnoticed.]

[grumble grumble...He takes the paper back to glare it until his attention is caught.

...toki what the fuck]

You know I have a cat, you said she tried to eat you once. Why the fuck are you asking?

Hi Akechi! [Yuya offers a smile and a wave.] ... Hi. [Dude he doesn't know.

His gaze wanders to the paper.] Is she a black cat, with no name on the collar?

[Toki glares at Maverick.]

I know you have a cat! I was asking if Princess had one! Because we followed a cat up here and it's not Ricktoria! I thought maybe it went into your room because you just came out! It's a logical question that makes perfect sense!

My actual name is Goro Akechi.

[He doesn't seem to mind the nickname, though, and just waves at Yuya.]

I don't have a cat, but...that sounds like the one that was in our room while we were trying to figure out that piece of paper.

[He turns his own sheet of paper around and holds it between both hands for then to see.] Did it look something like this?

Yeah, that's not a pet cat, that's a friend cat.

[Even now... He really needs to examine his life choices. At Yuya's prompting, he lifts his own paper -- only his is actually complete, thanks to cheating.]

Yep. Guess we were supposed to team up for this shit. It was sending us to the second floor where your room is, but it ain't like we could've known that without both fucking halves... Either of you know anything about some hobo picture code? I'm struggling to find a way this plan wasn't fucking stupid as hell.

Hey! I was right! They connect!

[He doesn't know anything about a hobo picture code, though.]

I could try looking at it again; the whole thing this time and let it just reveal itself~!

Is it a code? We were thinking it was a map. [Yuya reaches to absently pat Toki's shoulder. He did a good job.]

Friend cat... you mean like a familiar?

Eh. It's a little of both.

[He stares at Toki a moment, then slides his eyes over to Yuya in a silent question. Is this an Actual Thing They Should Do, or like...Toki bullshit...]

Something like that. Even you had to realize he was fucking smarter than a regular-ass mundie cat, right?

We're thinking it's a map of the dorm building, with code symbols marking each room. Ours is marked as a 'good place for a handout', while the hallway for this floor says 'leave quickly'.

[yokeye]

If you already know what the symbols mean, what are you trying to figure out!?

[This just got more confusing. He points to the cat symbol.]

Is the cat trying to tell us where it lives!? Isn't that Nana's room!? It's her cat! But if this is where the cat lives, then why does it want you to leave quickly!? None of this makes any sense!

Well, Matsu figured out how to open doors in our apartment...

[Cats can be smart. He leans in to look at the map.] Oh--these are the dorms, right? If the arrow says to leave the third floor, then it can't be that.

[So is it leading then elsewhere? He squints and then points at hits and Toki's room.] That's ours. That's what one mean?

[Mav's jaw tightens slightly at the reminder of what the symbol over his room means, still bothered by it even if he keeps reminding himself that it's...probably not how things are meant. At least these other two are providing a distraction.]

I just fucking said he's not a pet cat... The cat over Nana's room means that a "kind lady" lives there. We're definitely supposed to be on the second floor, dumbass.

[Let's see, Yuya's and Toki's room... Mav leans over to try and scan Akechi's list.]

[He has written down the translations, with Yuya and Toki's symbol marked as meaning 'you can camp here'.]

You just illustrated what we're trying to figure out. We know what the symbols mean, but not why we were given this map. 204 is marked as 'this is the place', though, so we might find answers there.

[yokeye]

I thought you meant not your- yours and/or Goro's- pet cat, but that it still could be someone else's cat...

[Nana could have had a familiar. He looks over at Yuya.]

Anyway! "This is the place"? Do you think it's Kano's map!? But no, because we already knew that he wanted to move down there, so why would we have a map telling us that!? It has to have some other hidden meaning!

[Nana does not have a familiar.

Yuya rubs his chin thoughtfully.] Yeah, that room is empty right now so Kano talked about taking it. I don't think he has a cat? But he does have...

[Illusions. He straightens back up.] If that's where it wants us to go then we'll find more answers there! The front door is probably locked, but we can still get in through the bathroom.
