BIO: Hello! You can call me Yuya. I'm from Sendai, Japan. This is my second year in Daybreak Academy. I'm a Tamer, and Odd-Eyes is my familiar. He's the big red dragon that hangs out in the courtyards. He's friendly but he tries to steal food sometimes. I speak Japanese and English but not very good French. I'm also in the theater club. I'm in Lumiere 203. Let's be friends!

[ She's in her room, the door is locked, what if she has a gun!!!!!!!!!

laughs, Kano knows fuck all about everything, don't assume he knows anything about anything, ever... ]

Toki said "maybe"!! And the moon's plenty full already and maybe it's the stress from all the missions and fights driving her to do that!!

To do what? [Yuya pauses, mentally running over the description again. Luckily, Minako was only really doing one action that Toki mentioned, so Yuya's able to connect those dots quickly.]

... You mean the gun? That's how her powers work, so it makes sense what Toki saw was probably a mission or something, right?

[ Is Yuya going to be the one to out her ]

What powers.

[Nobody told Yuya it was a secret.]

Uh. You know, her summoning? She points the gun as herself and says a... name, I guess, and when she pulls the trigger she summons them. I guess they're something from the Outlands like Odd-Eyes?

[ uh

whispers to himself: ] That's fucked up.

Why is it a gun? What the fuck.

... I don't know. [It is pretty fucked up.] That's just what I saw at the ball. If it's a flame power, those get kind of weird.

[ ............ ]

Yuya, pinky swear me that's all it is, and when Minako opens her door, we're both going to pretend I didn't freak out, okay.

Kano, she definitely already heard you freak out. [He can't promise the impossible.]

I'm going to pretend she had her earphones in the entire time! Let's pretend, okay, Yuya!!

I can't stop her from bringing it up, but okay. [He tilts his head.]

Kano... did you really not know about her powers? [If she's new to Daybreak, maybe she only got them recently, but... has it never been something they talked about?]

Hm, well... Talking about that would mean telling her everything that's up with mine, you know?

[ It's not just the illusions, but it's how he got them, what he traded for them, how he'd met Michael and the circumstances surrounding that, nothing he wants to talk about.

It's the same with Ellie, whatever her powers might be... They're "siblings," but they really know nothing about each other, they never talk. ]

And you don't want to tell her? Those kinds of things about yourself.

[Yuya's noticed, of course, that Kano holds so much close to his chest. But he thought, if it was anyone, surely his sisters got through to him in ways nobody else did.]

[ He actually laughs at that. ]

No way, no way! I'm not telling her, ever!!

Why? [Yuya asks honestly, his expression open for the answer.] You don't think it would change her feelings about you, either, do you?

Uh. It's not like that, but more like... I'm not telling anybody, ever??

[ If he told her, what's the worst that could happen..... It'd be breaking an unspoken rule, and maybe he just doesn't want things to change, for better or for worse. It's a stupid rule, the not-talking rule, that they'd made when they were kids and didn't know any better, but it'd worked well until now and there's no reason to talk about things that would just make the other person upset.

EXCEPT THIS EVOKER BUSINESS, MINAKO!!! All of Kano's issues are invisible ones nobody needs to know, but this gun stuff is the opposite of invisible, how did she think she could get away not talking about it?? ]

[Yuya lets out a breath, his shoulders sinking a little. He can't argue with that, necessarily, but...]

Is there anyone that you tell these things to? [Or does he just carry the burden alone? It's sad, because he sees Kano as someone who so easily has people, certainly has people around him who care. People he could lean on if he wanted.]

No? Why would I want to...?

[ There's no reason for it, as far as he can see. Living like this has become his life to the extent that it doesn't feel like a burden, he'd gotten used to it. Not telling anybody about himself because they don't need to know, wanting to learn everything about everybody else because he's curious and wants to know. It can just stay like that. ]

Well... [Yuya draws his hands back.] Because if it hurts, then it feels a little lighter to share it. Then you aren't so alone with it, and... people who care about you, they'll do it happily if it makes anything better for you.

[His expression twists a little, hesitant.] Kano doesn't share much about himself at all, despite asking so much about other people. Even if I asked you wouldn't tell me, right?

[ Alright, they can have this nice heart-to-heart while Minako contemplates escaping out the window, time is fake.

Only, Kano frowns a little, because he knows it's always like that, but it isn't supposed to matter. People like talking about themselves, sharing their hobbies and interests, other people relish in the opportunity to have the spotlight on them. Not him. So it shouldn't matter, right? if it were one sided. ]

Putting it like that... it's not like I hurt anywhere, you know? Things about me, they're uninteresting, in the end. There's nothing good to be gained, hearing my story.

Getting to know you better is enough good. [He says, a brief smile tugging at his lips.]

And... [This might be poking something he shouldn't. He knows it isn't true that Kano isn't hurt, somehow. Desperately taking blame to placate the hollow, hiding his injuries, even when exerting it isn't really necessary--like it'll really stop the worry. But the settling realization that even people as precious as his sisters don't see it...]

... that's not just because you're hiding the way it hurts? [He purses his lips.] Your illusions are pretty good, aren't they?

[ Yuya should've just left it at "Getting to know you better is enough good," because while Kano doesn't believe it for a second, a part of him wants to. But then he pushes further, and pokes at something Kano knows he does and has never admitted and doesn't plan to start now.

Letting Yuya see his injuries was a slip he really regrets, but there is absolutely no way he will ever let Yuya know that he fabricates even his own smiles and laughter, every single one since he was six years old, because that's the extent of his hurt. Nobody can ever know that. ]

Haha, they're pretty good, aren't they~ But they're not foolproof like that, you know?

[ Want to unmask him? Make him hurt. And Yuya knowing what his home life used to be like, he's positive Yuya wouldn't dare. ]

[Yuya shrugs.] I'm not good with that kind of magic. I can't see through it unless you take it down.

[He doesn't know it's there right now, even, isn't at the point of assuming he's under a constant fabrication. But he knows some sort of fabrication is there. He's seen the cracks enough.

Yuya holds his hand out, not really to offer for Kano to take it now but--just as a welcoming gesture.] But I'll listen if you ever want to talk about it. Or if you just--don't want to have to hide it all the time, I won't tell.

[ Kano laughs that fake laugh that sounds like his normal laugh. ]

Like a secret-keeper, huh~ I'll keep that in mind, but it's both ways, alright? Tell me your secrets too~!

[ THEY'RE GOING TO DO IT LIKE THIS. He won't ever promise telling Yuya anything, but he will take every opportunity to learn Yuya's secrets, he is a leech. ]

Do I seem like I keep a lot of secrets? [He definitely has them, some of which he can't share because of how he could drag others down with them. Some of them just feel stupid in the grand scheme of things, and others are too worryingly true for him.

He worries over his lip briefly.] Okay. I'll trust you with mine, too.

[Not... now in the middle of the hall, obviously. But if Kano suggests a give and take, Yuya realizes it'd be unfair to withhold. Even if some of it are things he's scared of talking about.]

Everybody has their secrets~

[ But the promise is made and Kano claps Yuya on the shoulder, mostly to turn him around back towards the stairs. ]

Why don'tcha go check up on Toki? Make sure everything's alright down there, while I clear things up from here, before anybody gets on my case about things?

[ e.g. Minako for him screaming up and down the halls. Possibly also Imelda for him screaming. Also every other person who lives on this floor and the ones below it. ]
