BIO: Hello! You can call me Yuya. I'm from Sendai, Japan. This is my second year in Daybreak Academy. I'm a Tamer, and Odd-Eyes is my familiar. He's the big red dragon that hangs out in the courtyards. He's friendly but he tries to steal food sometimes. I speak Japanese and English but not very good French. I'm also in the theater club. I'm in Lumiere 203. Let's be friends!

[ Kano likes making things complicated, and in this way, he can learn— without directly asking, because he's allergic to directly asking anything- what other sorts of things Yuya likes to play that doesn't involve physical activity or being outside. ]

Yeah, let's play dice!! Is it a game by itself, or do you play it with something? Do you stack them???

[ How do you play dice. He's sure he can make up something fun with them, but he's also curious what Yuya does with them. ]

Um... [Yuya rubs his chin, thinking.] I know a couple... they're normally gambling games. And Yahtzee.

[They can probably find Yahtzee boards online to copy, or they can play like Yakuza.]

[suddenlybees]

[ !!!!!!! ]

Let's gamble.

[ He doesn't know any games, but he's got a great poker face and an unapologetic capacity for cheating; he would make such a great gambler. ]

[hippocarnival]

I don't have enough money to gamble. [He sticks his tongue out.] So unless it's cents, we'll have to gamble something else or pretend. What else would you trade?

[suddenlybees]

[ Any amount of money is more than nothing, so Kano wouldn't have minded sucking Yuya's funds dry. ]

I don't plan to lose, so it doesn't matter to me~ Cents, miscellaneous knick-knacks, I'll even take an IOU from you when you lose~

[hippocarnival]

When I lose? [Yuya pauses, looking thoughtful at Kano as he tries to come up with some stakes that are interesting for both of them.

Finally he smiles, grabbing the edge of the desk as he leans forward.] let me see how many dice I have, I'll be right back. Find some coins, you'll need them.

[He doesn't wait for a response before he slides off and heads out the door.

It's about fifteen minutes before he comes knocking again, a pink plastic cup with dice and coins inside tucked into the crook of his arm, and a folded piece of paper.]

[ Kano grins at the confident look on Yuya's face, and busies himself with fashioning coins out of pocket lint while he waits for Yuya to fetch his dice. Yuya's definitely going to lose, because Kano has infinite funds. Yuya should know this.

But he's quick to answer the door this time when Yuya returns, taking the cup from Yuya to free up his hands. ]

What's that? A contract to officiate the game and sign your winnings over to me?

[hippocarnival]

You wish. It's the game board.

[Yuya sits down on the ground, patting for Kano to sit opposite of him.] This isn't really how it's played, but I thought of a better idea.

[He shakes out five six-sided dice, his coins, and then unfolds the paper on the ground. It's sliced up into a 2×6 grid, labeled one through six.

Yuya points at the mat.] These are the numbers on the dice. The way it works is that we'll each bet on one of the numbers. If there's a double of that number, the winner gets one honest answer out of the other person, whatever they ask. If it's a triple match, they can make a small request. If it's four matches, the winner gets a big favor--but if it makes the other person too uncomfortable they can deny it. But if all of them match...

[He leans in closer with a grin.] The winner gets any one thing they want from the loser. A demand, something they own, anything. No backing out.

[He holds up his hand, pinky out.] But it's only fun to win if it's fair, right? So neither of us can do anything to interfere with the dice. No peeking, no illusions, we're going to rely on nothing but luck.

[suddenlybees]

[ You know, the great thing about Yuya and Maverick is just how much faith they put into both pinkie promises and in Kano. He hooks pinkies with Yuya without hesitation, because of course everything about this is to Kano's advantage— he's got his magic on his side, while Yuya's got blind faith. There's no competition. ]

How interesting!!! It's a deal, no peeking or anything like that! For my first number~ I'm going to go with 3!!

[ At the very least, he absolutely cannot let Yuya win any doubles. ]

[hippocarnival]

[Yuya squeezes his finger before letting go.] I don't have a way to stop you, so don't cheat or I'll cry, okay? Let's have fun.

[He is putting faith in Kano, he knows, and if it gets him hurt again then Kano's going to know it. He'd like to believe Kano doesn't really want to do him harm.]

Okay, so put a coin on three to mark it! As for me... [He places one on four.] I'll pick four.

[suddenlybees]

[ Kano puts a coin on three, and waits for Yuya to shake up the cup with the dice and turn it over on the ground.

It's going to show five 3's.

Who cares if Yuya cries, he can't prove Kano didn't cheat. ]

[hippocarnival]

[He said he didn't have a way but that's not entirely true. Because getting five threes on the first time is more absurd than even Yuya will believe.

So he reaches without warning to pinch Kano hard to try and break the illusion, because the reality is none of the dice match.]

[suddenlybees]

Ouch, hey!!! No being a sore loser, Yu~ya!!!

[ The illusion does not break.

For all that Kano seems flippant about his magic, he does practice hard at it; knowing this would be coming, he completely numbed himself of pain, so that he doesn't feel it when Yuya pinches him, and the illusion remains too. ]

[Yuya blinks rapidly, pinching Kano again before feeling over the dice. No way, no way??

He sinks, although he looks less defeated and more disappointed.] I can't believe we really rolled the highest stakes on the first try...

[How boring, there's so much less to build up to now.] All right, What do you want?

[suddenlybees]

[ The fact that Yuya pinches again is enough to make Kano laugh, rubbing at his arm once he's released, just for effect. ]

It's surprising, isn't it?? Aah, it was so unexpected, I don't even have anything in mind yet! Can we just call it an IOU, and I'll come collect on it later?

[hippocarnival]

Yeah, you can have an IOU. [Yuya did say anything after all. He scoops the dice back into the cup and shakes it.] I'm going to keep mine on four.

[suddenlybees]

[ yesssssssssssss

he can play the game properly now, letting the illusion go now that he's already secured the grand prize. ]

Then, three for me, still~

[hippocarnival]

[Yuya rolls the dice, keeping his disappointment to himself because Kano still looks like he's excited.

It's double threes. Yuya raises a brow at him.]

[suddenlybees]

[ Amazing. But also, crap, because now he has to think of a question— and also other favors, for if he continues this streak. Games are so much easier when he can just win money to bank for future projects at his own leisure. ]

Double threes~ That's a question, right? You get to answer any question that I ask? And honest question...

[ He hums deviously, sliding his hands in his pockets and making no effort to hide the evil grin on his face. ]

I want to hear you say it again~ What do you really think about Bonbon? Tell me how much you love him~

[hippocarnival]

Eh--[Yuya jolts a little, sitting up.] Why are you even thinking about that?!

[suddenlybees]

No backing out, Yu~ya~

[ Obviously, he can't think of anything he wants, so he's just going to ask something he knows Yuya will hate. It's the same thing, really. ]

[hippocarnival]

[Yuya gives Kano a sullen look before he averts his gaze down, starting to blush.]

I like him a lot. He's strong and kind, he doesn't back down from doing what's right even if it's hard. He's really noble, not just about himself but in how he protects and looks after everyone else. And he's so nice, he's the first person that ever wanted to be my friend...

[suddenlybees]

You really are... too good...

[ Bless Yuya, really.

Kano lets him talk for a bit, then pushes the stop recording button on his phone before removing his hands from his pockets and leaning back where he sits. Yuya can keep talking, if he wants? Nobody's stopping him.

Or they can move on. ]

[Will Kano ever use any of this blackmail.

Yuya moves right along and moves his coin to five.] Are you picking another number?

[suddenlybees]

[ Depends on if I, as a player, remember. So good chance not. ]

Nope! I'll stick with three!
