YUYA SAKAKI UN: FUNDIRECTION

BIO: Hello! You can call me Yuya. I'm from Sendai, Japan. This is my second year in Daybreak Academy. I'm a Tamer, and Odd-Eyes is my familiar. He's the big red dragon that hangs out in the courtyards. He's friendly but he tries to steal food sometimes. I speak Japanese and English but not very good French. I'm also in the theater club. I'm in Lumiere 203. Let's be friends!

Getting to know you better is enough good. [He says, a brief smile tugging at his lips.]

And... [This might be poking something he shouldn't. He knows it isn't true that Kano isn't hurt, somehow. Desperately taking blame to placate the hollow, hiding his injuries, even when exerting it isn't really necessary--like it'll really stop the worry. But the settling realization that even people as precious as his sisters don't see it...]

... that's not just because you're hiding the way it hurts? [He purses his lips.] Your illusions are pretty good, aren't they?

[ Yuya should've just left it at "Getting to know you better is enough good," because while Kano doesn't believe it for a second, a part of him wants to. But then he pushes further, and pokes at something Kano knows he does and has never admitted and doesn't plan to start now.

Letting Yuya see his injuries was a slip he really regrets, but there is absolutely no way he will ever let Yuya know that he fabricates even his own smiles and laughter, every single one since he was six years old, because that's the extent of his hurt. Nobody can ever know that. ]

Haha, they're pretty good, aren't they~ But they're not foolproof like that, you know?

[ Want to unmask him? Make him hurt. And Yuya knowing what his home life used to be like, he's positive Yuya wouldn't dare. ]

[Yuya shrugs.] I'm not good with that kind of magic. I can't see through it unless you take it down.

[He doesn't know it's there right now, even, isn't at the point of assuming he's under a constant fabrication. But he knows some sort of fabrication is there. He's seen the cracks enough.

Yuya holds his hand out, not really to offer for Kano to take it now but--just as a welcoming gesture.] But I'll listen if you ever want to talk about it. Or if you just--don't want to have to hide it all the time, I won't tell.

[ Kano laughs that fake laugh that sounds like his normal laugh. ]

Like a secret-keeper, huh~ I'll keep that in mind, but it's both ways, alright? Tell me your secrets too~!

[ THEY'RE GOING TO DO IT LIKE THIS. He won't ever promise telling Yuya anything, but he will take every opportunity to learn Yuya's secrets, he is a leech. ]

Do I seem like I keep a lot of secrets? [He definitely has them, some of which he can't share because of how he could drag others down with them. Some of them just feel stupid in the grand scheme of things, and others are too worryingly true for him.

He worries over his lip briefly.] Okay. I'll trust you with mine, too.

[Not... now in the middle of the hall, obviously. But if Kano suggests a give and take, Yuya realizes it'd be unfair to withhold. Even if some of it are things he's scared of talking about.]

Everybody has their secrets~

[ But the promise is made and Kano claps Yuya on the shoulder, mostly to turn him around back towards the stairs. ]

Why don'tcha go check up on Toki? Make sure everything's alright down there, while I clear things up from here, before anybody gets on my case about things?

[ e.g. Minako for him screaming up and down the halls. Possibly also Imelda for him screaming. Also every other person who lives on this floor and the ones below it. ]

Oh--right. [Now that Kano's not in a total panic and Minako isn't dying, Yuya should make sure Toki came back inside. He wasn't wearing a coat. Or shoes.

He starts forward, calling over his shoulder.] Good luck with Minako!

Good luck with Toki~!!

[ Yuya needs more luck than he does, tbqh ]

[Toki hasn't come back inside. He found the shrine and had been trying to picture what they'd been doing out there. He can't imagine that he'd built the thing himself, but it has Tsuyukusa's name on it. Would Yuya and/or Kano do something that elaborate for remembrance of a jellyfish? Toki thinks not. Did he drag them out here for some ridiculous pseudo-funeral at night? With candles and everything? He collects the candles, which had been lit at some point, so he knows some sort of ceremony-like thing was held. Somehow, he's been out here sitting by the shrine for the last ten minutes and still has no idea how it got here. It's frustrating.]

[Yuya wanders around for a bit, checking their room and the common room before coming back to the shrine.

He slows his approach when he sees Toki still sitting there, candles gathered, and when he's by his side leans over to put a gentle hand on his shoulder.] Toki. Let's go back inside.

[He doesn't hear Yuya coming and he startles a bit at the touch before getting up.]

Is Minako okay!? Did you find out what happened, or explain what's going to happen!? Does she know what that building is!?

Minako's okay. Kano's talking to her. [Or going to talk to her, but he assumes by this point he got into the room.] Whatever you saw, it definitely isn't happening right now.

But it's going to happen sometime!

[He keeps seeing her hold the gun to head, hearing the shot. There's this feeling of dread and terror bubbling under the surface.]

I was wrong! It's worse now! The visions! Seeing her and knowing something's going to happen! Before it was like surreal terrifying nightmares while I was awake, but I didn't keep thinking about them afterwards! I don't want to see her kill herself!

Toki! [Well now he's gotta out her to someone else. Yuya reaches for his shoulders, giving him a pleading look as he tries to calm him down.] Listen to me. Minako's not going to kill herself. Pointing a gun at herself is how her summoning works. She's a Tamer. That's--normal.

[It's a weirdest damn thing to call normal, though.]

That's.. what? How does that work!? That's not normal!

[He's trying to calm down, but he feels like crying and screaming at the same time. But he has to deal with this, because it's going to keep happening.]

Why didn't... why didn't you say that before? I didn't know! I don't know her well and she's never... Why would it work that way?

[Looking back down at the shrine, he decides not to mention that to Yuya. He's sure he's looking on the verge of panic every time Yuya talks to him and he doesn't need to know everything.]

I'm sorry! I just... it was the first time that I knew someone...

Y-you and Kano were both panicking! [And Toki really wasn't helping, and Yuya was more concerned Kano was going to do something reckless between the two of them. He didn't get the chance to explain it before people were running off.] I don't know why her power works that way, I just know because I've seen it. Without knowing, it's scary.

[He hadn't meant it to sound like he was accusing Yuya of withholding information.]

But she's okay for now. And maybe, it was like, just her on a mission and killing some shadow monster. It doesn't always have to be about something bad, right?

That's right. [Yuya squeezes his shoulder gently.] We can't do anything if we just run around panicking, right? Maybe it's nothing, but either way we can make sure we're there for her so no matter what, she's not facing it alone.

[It's not like he could ever stop it from happening anyway. Just give her a warning, which was ultimately a pretty useless power. He'll get around to taking some kind of combat class one of these days, maybe. He nods at Yuya.]

Yeah, that's all we can do... It's cold. We should go back.

[Yuya nods, drawing his hands back to return to the dorm side by side with Toki.] Who was it you said was helping you with your visions? Have you told her how they're changing?

Oh! Tatsumaki!

[He hasn't spoken to Tatsumaki a second time, and only posted flowery compliments about her being Venus reincarnated or the like on the Hot or Not.]

I haven't told her anything else yet! I should! But I don't want to bother her! She seemed like a really busy person and like she always had important things to do, you know those types?

[She's also Orihime's roommate and he's been avoiding her. Instead, Toki will make the very bad decision of apologizing to Rex tomorrow; and he will subsequently be the one Toki goes to for anything vision related.]

Sure, but if she offered to help, I don't think it's a bother to ask to meet up. Do you know any of the seer teachers?

[Yuya knows he's out of his element beyond being there and telling Toki if he recognizes something.]

I'll talk to her again one day, when I have questions~! I don't, but I will talk to them too~!

[Interpreting things is ultimately up to him and he's probably going to wing it.]
