ACCOLADES: (Here is a list of leading roles Yuya's has in school theater performances over the past two years, plus a glowing review of his familiar Odd-Eyes)

BIO: Hello! You can call me Yuya. I'm from Sendai, Japan. This is my second year in Daybreak Academy. I'm a Tamer, and Odd-Eyes is my familiar. He's the big red dragon that hangs out in the courtyards. He's friendly but he tries to steal food sometimes. I speak Japanese and English but not very good French. I'm also in the theater club. I'm in Lumiere 203. Let's be friends!

He doesn't like to be touched, I guess! Sorry, cat!

[He adds a hissing cat to his wall drawings instead of more eyes. Nekano's going to have to be more direct for them to get anywhere.]

[suddenlybees]

[ It's so stupid that they leave the door unlocked but keep it closed, how is he supposed to escape like this—- Yuya making the grab for him fortunately doesn't startle Nekano out of the illusion, and he's able to numb himself quick enough to make the landing, too. Man, his ankle's going to be swollen twice its size later, maybe, but that's okay, as long as he can keep the magic going.

He hisses again, and bats the paper towards Yuya's feet. ]

Sorry! [Yuya jerks his hands back, quickly checking them for scratches.

He crouches down, very slowly reaching for the paper. Doooon't scratch him.] Has anyone asked about a lost pet yet?

[yokeye]

I don't know!

[Toki leaves his drawings for a later time and climbs down from the loft to get his phone from the desk. He scrolls through recent network posts, but finds nothing on lost pets.]

Nothing on the network!

[The cat's starting to look suspicious. It obviously belongs to somebody, since it has a collar, but who? And why is it here?]

[suddenlybees]

[ There are no scratches on Yuya's hand, and though Nekano makes one last swipe at him after he takes the paper, his claws aren't even out and his paws don't come close to reaching Yuya's hand. It's just a warning, mostly: no touchey.

Satisfied with that much, Nekano goes to leap onto Toki's desk, standing still and straight like he can telepathically beam into Toki's head that this would be the perfect photo op!!!!! There is probably all of two people who would recognize Nekano if posted onto the network, one of whom wouldn't be helpful in this instance and the other... a little less unhelpful and would probably raise a fuss about the cat being a pet, but whatever. ]

Maybe he snuck out while they were out... [He looks at the paper before holding it up to Toki. Maybe it's a clue to the owner.] Does this mean anything to you?

[yokeye]

[Toki doesn't think to take a picture of the cat, and Kuroko's really more photogenic. Nekano pics would be a downgrade. He abandons his phone to Nekano and goes to take the paper from Yuya. It's weird.]

Is it like daemon math!? They look like matrices... or maybe blueprints?

[He turns the paper different ways to try and figure it out, but yeah. All he has is math or schematics.]

Are they zeros or tables!?

[suddenlybees]

[ Nekano sits on top of Toki's phone and meows plaintively at Kuroko. How do you live with these two guys, cat... Patience of a saint. ]

I don't know. It just looked like scribbles to me, but maybe if it's for a class we'd have some idea where he came from...

[And Yuya definitely isn't take any class with blueprints or anything. It's nothing like any summoning circle...

Kuroko trills back at Nekano, blinking slowly.]

[yokeye]

Okay! I'm going to try something that Jail was trying to teach me!

[Toki stares intently at the paper for minute, then stops. He takes a deep breath and looks again with less focus. He has to let the information come to him. See the "true nature" of this paper. What it means. Really "see" it.]

Nothing yet!

[suddenlybees]

[ Keep trying, Toki....

Nekano meows and goes to hide underneath Yuya's bed. Friendship ended with Toki and Yuya. Now Kuroko is his best friend. ]

[Well...

Yuya goes to sit by his desk and pulls a pack of gummies out of a drawer and just starts eating them. He'll let Toki focus on that.]

[yokeye]

[Toki watches as neon green lines seem to draw themselves across the paper, filling in spaces and connecting half-drawn lines and symbols. They're all similar boxes with the same layout. The extra symbols inside the lines are too faint to make out, but he knows there's more to this.]

Oh my god! I did it! Yuya! It's not finished! We only have part of it! Each one of these sets connects to some other thing and makes separate boxes! It's a mystery~!

[suddenlybees]

[ Congrats of having eyes!! Nekano chirps from underneath the bed. Honestly, it's more than what Maverick's figuring out, so this is hopeful. ]

[hippocarnival]

So... it's only half finished? [He shoves a handful of gummies in his mouth.] Mmph--what's it make? A map?

[yokeye]

I don't know!? But it's something!

[Looking back at the paper, the extra lines have faded and he's feeling sick. Maybe he shouldn't have done that.]

If it's a map, maybe there's a treasure! There is an x!

[suddenlybees]

[ Meow meow I'm not contributing anything substantial to this thread but here's a tag about Nekano meowing encouragingly again. He also gets out from underneath the bed to hop over towards the door and scratch at it. A plea to let him out, maybe, or perhaps urging the two of them to get out of the room and go find that treasure. ]

[Yuya watches the cat scratch at the door, chewing gummies slowly and for a solid minute making exactly zero effort to actually let Kano out.

Finally he gets up and goes to the door to open it.] But it's not good if it's not finished, right? Is it torn or just incomplete?

[yokeye]

Incomplete! Like it's drawn somewhere else! Even one of the symbols is cut off!

[Yuya doesn't seem to be excited about this mystery.]

Don't you want to go looking for the rest of it!? I mean, the cat probably didn't bring it far! It's probably in Lumiere somewhere!

[suddenlybees]

[ Nekano makes sure he gets out of the door into the hallway first, before looking back over his shoulder to see whether Toki or Yuya would follow, which would be both convenient but also a pain and a disappointment if they're going to have to rely on following the cat. ]

[Yuya looks back at Toki, then Nekano. He does kind of wonder where this cat came from...]

So let's follow it. [He steps out of the room to do just that. This is absolutely what he's relying on.]

[yokeye]

Okay!

[Toki's happy to follow the cat too. Maybe it will lead them to the second piece of the map. He grabs his phone to take a picture of the paper just in case it gets lost somewhere along the way. He hands the original to Yuya in the hallway. It's safer with him.]

[suddenlybees]

[ SO THIS IS HOW WE'RE DOING IT..... Time to flee down the hall and up the stairs and if he's lucky, Mav and Akechi haven't left yet and they could put their collective two braincells together and solve this together. ]

[In their defense, they have significantly less context in regards to the Weirdly Smart Black Cat and Kano having weird ciphers to this point.

But also they're just fucking stupid.] Ah--wait!

[Yuya barely grabs the paper before he runs after Nekano fast enough to keep him in sight.]

[Toki has seen one picture of Nekano before; one that Mav sent, but he has completely forgotten it. He's had an encounter with Nekano in New York, but also forgot most of that and certainly would never put it together that "weird map cat" and "new york elevator cat" are one in the same. He follows the cat and Yuya up to the third floor.]
