[Hey he's actually using video this time! Progress! He looks kind of flushed and tired, but let mortified than before.]

Hey, Yuya? Thanks for coming to save me, in Dorchacht. Even... Even though it was my fault they hurt you.

Eh... but I'm the one who involved myself. [He doesn't blame Steven for his untimely death when he could have ignored it and not been hurt. Really, he thinks he might've made the whole experience a lot more traumatizing for him.]

You okay?

[starseedling]

Yeah, I think so. It was pretty weird just waking up and having it just be... over. It only lasted a few hours in the real world.

Are you okay? I died in one of those dreams before and it really sucked.

[hippocarnival]

Well... it hurt, but I came back like nothing happened so it's not a lot worse than any othet nightmare, right?

[He gives Steven a thumbs up.] I'm really okay!

[starseedling]

I'm glad...

[He smiles for a moment, but it quickly turns strained and embarrassed. He looks down.]

And I'm sorry for being terrible to you during the Full Moon. I must seem like a really annoying person, huh?

[Ah...

There's a pause before Yuya shifts and leans forward a little.] Hey, I know a thing or two about being an annoying person. You're going to have to try a lot harder than that.

[Not that... being kidnapped wasn't troublesome or frustrating, but it isn't really a repeat offense by Steven. Hopefully.] Those changes aren't easy, huh?

They're awful.

[It sounds like being asked is causing him to suddenly vent a feeling he's been holding in for a while.]

Not even really the physical stuff - having wings and body armor is even kind of cool! - but... during Full Moons...

I don't know. It's like I turn into a different person. And the more upset I am about it, the worse I get. I was just... sad that my family couldn't be here with me... but even thinking about it compelled me to do all this crazy stuff!

[Yuya nods. Honestly it sounds terrible, and so far he hasn't seen anything equally bad in witches yet.]

It's something that happens to the monsters who live here too, right? [Something they have to cope with every month, as far as Yuya understands it.] You think they know ways to make it easier? So that what's happening to you doesn't take control of you like this.

[He's got a bond, Yuya remembers, but maybe it's a lot more than that.]

I guess that's supposed to be what bonds are for. Maybe it would have been even worse without Toby...

When I was with her the month before, it wasn't so bad. But I didn't have as much to be upset about, either.

The first time it happened I went flying around naked until some Aefenglomers got angry and told me to stop!

But they don't start bonded, right? So maybe there's something else that monsters do to cope...

[Unless native monsters don't go through the same high, which just gives him even more questions.]

But if being lonely made you want to kidnap people... what feeling made you want to fly around naked?

I have been meaning to talk to some of the Fae I met about that... [Investigation pending.] If it's always like this, they've probably been dealing with it for hundreds of years!

[That other thing, though. Oh god. Steven flushes right up, trying to cover part of his face with this hand.]

I wasn't naked on purpose!! [Or rather, he didn't strip naked for the hell of it.] I was just... already naked, because I'd been molting, and I was so excited to have wings I didn't bother finding anything to put on first...!

[Also he'd really wanted to show his molted skin to people but he doesn't say that part because even he knows that was weird.]

Inside there's a scarf! It's not an ugly scarf at all, promise! And then a cool pin he himself crafted for his friend.

There's also a message inside that reads: ]

You have been such a great support to me throughout my permanence here, and words fail me to describe how thankful I am for your kindness. More young people should follow your example. Please enjoy the rest of the holidays, and I wish you happiness for the next year here.

Hey! Um, this is Asahi. In case that wasn't obvious.. [ Asahi, it's literally your voice. But apparently she's a little nervous about just contacting someone one on one like this. She's not really used to it yet. ]

I just wanted to ask if you're doing better by now. I didn't really see you anymore after they took you along to heal you, but.. you know. You looked really bad back there.

[ She's practically saying she was worried, but is apparently making some real effort to dodge those specific words. ]

Asahi, hi! [He sounds better, at least, but maybe he's just really excited to hear from a friend.]

Yeah, I'm doing better. They let me out of the hospital... I was lucky none of the fires reached my apartment.

[ Honestly, just hearing him sound better at all is already a relief. Asahi can't even imagine how long people will have to deal with the effects of that kidnapping, after all. ]

I'm glad to hear it.

[ She grows a little quiet a moment later. Awkwardly so. What do you even say about that situation? At least she was able to focus on his state when he saw him right after, but now.. ]

But I'm also.. um. I'm sorry that happened to you.

... I'm sorry it happened, too. [To all of them.] But--it's over now. So we just keep going forward, and we're going to recover from it.

[Just keep focusing on the brighter future ahead. It's left so many of them feeling defeated, Yuya's really trying to be the strong one this time.]

Is there anything I can do for you, maybe?

[ Because while his attitude is admirable, there's no way he can really be dealing with it that easily, right? Sure, Yuya always seems optimistic and all, but Asahi just wants to make sure he isn't trying to deal with it all by himself. That wouldn't be right. ]

Um... [He has to consider, mostly because he doesn't know entirely what he needs himself.]

I think I should buy more food. It'd be easier to carry with two people.

[ Thank god, something to latch onto for a moment. Maybe she'll feel less awkward and useless if she's helping him out. ]

Oh, I can do that. [ Carrying is easy! ] Should I come over right now? I have some time.

Yeah, that'd be great. My apartment is [Insert address here don't @ me]. I'll wait for you!

[He's already going stir crazy, and he needs to pack more protein into his diet so he's going to take the help when it's offered.]

[ Honestly, it takes ridiculously little time before Asahi is already at his apartment. You'd assume that she would have had to run over to make it there that quickly, and.. well. She did. She really obviously did, because she's standing at his door completely out of breath. Even as she's trying to downplay it as she greets him, there's no way it isn't obvious. ]

Hey! Here.. [ wheeze ] I am!

[He doesn't expect her quite that quickly, and he's still finishing buttoning up his coat when she runs up.] Uh, hi!

N.. No problem.

[ She definitely sprinted all the way here. She might have gotten some Looks from people as a random harpy just.. sped by.. without considering maybe flying and making it easier on herself..

She still hasn't even caught her breath yet. ]
