Isn't it 'cause it's not a zero sum game? People can be friends with all those nicer and smarter and better people, but also people like you and me.

You love people, and you want to give 'em your best, and you keep trying even if you end up failing. Isn't that all good stuff? That's the sort of stuff I want to see in a friend, not somebody perfect.
